Pearl - Birthstone for June

The birthstone for June is Pearl or sometimes Moonstone. It is thought that Greeks actually believed that pearls were the hardened tears of joy and that the Love Goddess shook them from her eyes as she was born from the sea. According to gem folklore, pearls are believed to bring purity, faith, innocence, wisdom, and sincerity to the wearer. The pearl is also the 30th wedding anniversary gift.

The healing properties of the June birthstone are reputed to be effective for health problems relating to the heart, spleen, stomach, intestine & ulcer problems. Pearls can come in a variety of colors that range from delicate rose white to black. When it comes to pearls the higher the luster or orients the more expensive it is. It may be hard to envisage that these desirable treasures come naturally from the mollusk.
