Beautiful celtic style drop earrings set with Whitby Jet gemstones with fish hook fastenings.

The Whitby Jet earrings measure 39mm x 11mm.

Whitby Jet is only found along a seven and a half mile stretch of the North Yorkshire coastline centered around Whitby. Whitby Jet was one of the earliest gemstones used to create items of jewellery. The wearing of jewellery was often a display of wealth or used to bestow some 'magical" protection upon the wearer. Because of the exclusivity of many of the gemstone great skill in manufacture and care in design was invested in the items.
